You say you want to accomplish certain things and achieve desired goals but how much work are you willing to put into it. Certain goals do not come easy. What are you willing to sacrifice? Initially it is just a thought, a dream. Eventually you have to put some action behind it. If your values are not aligned with your goals, then you will never reach them.
One thing I failed to do from the jump is go all in. Most of you know that saying since it’s a famous Texas Hold’em poker term. There is so much meaning behind it. I believe most people would think that pushing all of your chips in the pot is quite risky. It is actually more of a calculated risk. Of course there is a chance you might lose. On the other hand, there is a chance you might win big!
As much as I was committed to achieving these goals, I wasn’t all in. I didn’t have the hunger required to stay on track, be consistent and attack the day with purpose. Despite knowing what I needed to do, I did not follow through most times. Like Morpheus told Neo in the Matrix: “…there is a difference between knowing the path, and walking it”. Therefore I created a list of “non-negotiables” to solidify my morning routine. I wake up before sunrise. I say my prayers and give thanks. Then I go for a thirty minute walk. When I return, I journal. Lastly, I do another type of exercise either weight lifting or running.
I’m walking the path now. Learning to embrace the process instead of focusing on the end result. It’s making me identify my shortcomings along with my strengths. These faults seem to be amplified during this journey. Awareness is vital if you want to grow. I’m now tackling these obstacles head on. Finally, it’s time to take a calculated risk and push my chips all in.
