Day One

I believe that the two most frustrating words when it comes to goal setting are the words DAY ONE. It is otherwise known as the beginning or the starting point of the process. The reason why it’s frustrating is because often times, actually most times, day one repeats itself. You’ll go one day, one week maybe even a whole month of being motivated and focused but then it may be followed by consecutive days of regression and disappointment.
My purpose for starting this blog is to document my weight loss journey, to chronicle my struggles along with my triumphs, to outline what worked for me and what didn’t. I don’t know what’s different in this season but I have a feeling that I will attain my goal. Now I’ve been here before many times. Since I stopped training for football, it has been a challenge keeping the weight off. I feel that the 250 lbs mark has been a barrier for me as it’s been almost 15 years since I have weighed 240 lbs or less.
Let’s set the record straight…technically, this is not day one for me. I started this journey one hundred and eighty eight days ago back in mid-January when I returned from a destination wedding. There was no way that I had the will power to start eating better in Cancun while lying on the beach working on my tan. Upon my return on January 15th, 2018 I weighed 272 lbs. That was close to my heaviest weight. I got to a spot where I was way too comfortable. Since I’m a tall guy with a big frame I was able to carry 260 plus pretty well. Or so I thought…
